Arms and Equipment of Civil War Cavalry

Special emphasis will be on weapons used at the Battle of Trevilian Station, but will also include items typically used by the cavalry such as saddle, uniform jacket, boots and accoutrements. The program will be in a “show and tell” format with questions and answers being fielded during and after the program.  Audience members are invited to bring and share any items they have relating to the battle.

Louisa County hosts the 150th anniversary re-enactment of the Battle of Trevilian Station. This battle was the only all-cavalry battle fought during the Civil War. The re-enactment will include house and plantation kitchen tours, cavalry battles and drills, horse-drawn artillery, demonstrations of historical crafts and music and much more. An educational and entertaining family event.
